Kristian Story, a Napa Valley, California winemaker, employs Ancien winemaking techniques to create his hand-crafted, unfiltered and unfined wines, fermented with French yeasts. Focused on the limited production of red Bordeaux varietals and small lots of Chardonnay, Merlot and Petite Sirah, Kristian believes the minimalist approach preserves and expresses the true varietal character of Kristian Story Wines.

"To make supple wines that are accessible in their youth, but suited to cellaring – the fruit, tannins, acidity and alcohol must be balanced and in harmony." Kristian Story has been making artisan wines since 2000 with grapes grown, vinted and bottled on the Story family’s estate vineyard, St. Helena Winery

Wine mentors have been Mark Herrold (Merus), Sarah Gott (Joseph Phelps, Quintessa & Blackbird), Francois Bugue (Cain), and his own father Peter Story (St. Helena Winery). His passion and focus has resulted in plush, rich, layered and unabashedly seductive Bordeaux blends, rooted in old world techniques yet distinctively Californian. Not bad for the Second-Story winemaker, half-French son of a Jersey boy!

Rhapsodie Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon - 5% Merlot - 3% Petite Sirah - 2% Petit Verdot. (396 cases produced)
The 2006 Kristian Story Rhapsodie exhibits a deep black-crimson color with inviting aromas of black cherry, currant, and fresh earth. Despite significant tannic structure, the palate generously offers concentrated flavors of crème de cassis, mocha, and blueberries interlaced with graphite, mineral and sage. The intense fruit and earth elements persist through a long memorable finish, complemented by firm tannins and a touch of acidity. Anticipated maturity: 2010–2021.

Soirée Estate Meritage 2006

A blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon - 45% Merlot - 8% Petite Sirah - 2% Petit Verdot. (287 cases produced)
A profound offering of ripe blackberries, pomegranate, fleshy currant, wild plum, dark chocolate and caramel flavors is found in the 2006 Kristian Story Soirée. The supple, silky, fine-grained tannins grace a soft finish. Will be at its peak between 2010-2015.

Red Special Vineyard Select 2007

A blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon - 25% Merlot – 30% Zinfandel – 4% Petit Verdot. (527 cases produced)
The 2007 vintage of Kristian Story RED, like that of the previous vintage, offers aromatic notes of currant, black cherry, plum, wild berry flavors and coco powder. This full-bodied wine offers a palate which brims concentrated layers of boysenberry and mocha flavors. It is rich and supple. I have also taken care in presenting the wine to be one with a balance of acidity, fruit, and integrated tannins. Will be at its peak between 2011- 2015.

Warrant Red 2007

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot - Zinfandel - Petit Verdot.
As with the strum of the electric guitar and the bang of a big bass drum within a rock anthem melody, this sexy wine strokes balance and resonates with flavors of cherries, raspberries and mocha. The notes finish with innuendo of espresso and tobacco. Great acidity pairs it well with foods such as spaghetti, beef, and spicy dishes. Also pairs well with classic rock, good times & great friends.
